Here we all are dyeing Easter eggs like a happy little family.
Not sure the boys want to be here but they made it through
and seemed to enjoy some of it.

What beautiful colors we made, so spring like.

Here is Lon with his pretty blue artistically created egg.

Okay so this is the real deal. Our Garden.

We have 5 rows of vegetables, a lemon tree, a lime tree, an orange tree and my favorite a pomegranate(that's not in the pic). I am going to post once a week with updates, "hopefully we have updates". It will be fun to see our progress.

Ok so no this is not really my garden, but I can dream cant I?

But we really did it. My kids and I, planted our first vegi garden since we moved to this house. It doesn't look as good as this one, yet, but hopefully it will be close. I am going to post pics on our progress soon.

BASHA FOOTBALL

This year Cody is playing freshmen football at Basha High school in Chandler, AZ.
Cody is #75 their high school is a 5A school with 70 players on the freshman team. WOW!

This is the Basha Bears first game against Chandler.
Basha won 27 to 0. Cody is starting Defensive Tackle.

He had his first fumble recovery of the season.

Great job CODY and all the BASHA BEARS!

Look at this food storage. I can't even imagine the amount of work that went into this awesome display.

This was my Great Grandma. My Mom loves to tell us about how wonderful her pickles were and she only gave them out to those who would help her can food.

We are working on food storage and this is my INSPIRATION!

I made my first batch of canned salsa. It turned out wonderful, probably due to the tomatoes coming fresh from the garden. (not my garden) Soon...

So do you ever feel like you have been in the "twilight zone"? I do and I have been there for about 3 months.

I know that I have a lot of apologizing to do, so here goes. Sorry to all my friends who kept checking on me, sorry to all those who I have let down in different ways and sorry to my family for not being all there the last few months. Hopefully I am through this rough time. I appreciate the love and understanding that all have given me.

I decided instead of catching up...I am just going to start fresh from here. So here goes...

LDS Chapel Burns to the ground

We learned yesterday that the LDS church that I was blessed in, baptised, attended 3 weddings of my siblings in and many other life building experiences in, burned to the ground. Its a very sad thing for me.

I also feel so bad for my sister. Her daughter is getting married next week, the 13th, and was scheduled to have her wedding at this chapel.

As I reflect on the sad feelings that I have about the event, it made me realize how much I take for granted the special events we have in our lives that change who we are as people. Being blessed and given a name, no I don't remember that, of course, but that started my life as a member of the LDS faith. Being baptised, definitely remember that, I wish I could have that experience again and again. Going through the Temple, AWESOME!

But in each of these experiences the church building I was in and the beauty around me escaped me at the time. We are really blessed in our faith to have such beautiful buildings to worship in and be able to have those special events in our life that help us make those choices to live our gospel to the fullest.

LOGANDALE, Nev. -- A fire official says federal investigators are joining the probe of a pre-dawn blaze Wednesday that destroyed an LDS Church stake center in a small Nevada farming town northeast of Las Vegas.Clark County fire spokesman Scott Allison says there's no immediate indication of foul play in the 4 a.m. fire that engulfed The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Logandale.But he said the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating because it's a church fire.Allison said firefighters from Clark County, North Las Vegas and Mesquite were able to save an office building and church records, but the chapel was a total loss.No injuries are reported.Allison said the church is the first and oldest Mormon congregation in the Moapa Valley town about 55 miles from Las Vegas. The building, at 3245 Moapa Valley Blvd., was dedicated in 1951.

What a crazy month. December, of course, is all about getting ready for Christmas.

We had an added excitement in our home for the Holidays. My Brother "Jeff" and his family came to be with us for the holiday. It was one of the best Christmas's that we have had. Jeff and his wife Betsy have 5 children. 2 boys and 3 girls. We had so much fun shopping, cooking and spending time with them. Our home was filled with laughter and joy for the whole Christmas week. Everyone opened presents with gusto and I think, got what they had asked for. My own personal "Santa", did so awesome. He is very good to me.

In November the Curves that I was working at closed. Due to the economy. I was very sad for the owner. She was awesome to work for and a super nice lady. Also because I lost my place to work out. sad...

For Thanksgiving we went to Nevada to spend the week with my family. It is always fun seeing everyone and being together. Eating too much good food and giving my bro's a hard time for how old they are becoming.

As you can see there is a lot of us.

Believe it or not in this picture we are missing 29 members of our family that couldn't be there. YIKES!

We always seem to find a way to play a game of Basketball while we are there. It's a girls against the boys kind of thing. This year we only had 5 girls and the men had 8. We had so much fun playing, but man are we all getting old or what. The men beat us women by a slim margin. As you see we are all exhausted and feeling our age.

This is my bro James showing his pain for his "mommy". He is the family's mama's boy. He is 2 years older than me. We continually give each other grief about being mom & dads babies.

So I decided to update by month. October, 2008 we had Cody's 14th Birthday, Lon and I had our 9th wedding anniversary and of course Halloween.

For Halloween Jamie was Cleopatra, Trinity was a witch and Sheila the dog was Tinkerbell. I am looking for pictures. I will post them ASAP. Sheila seemed to be the hit of the neighborhood. Everyone loved her costume. Especially her wings which fluttered every time she wiggled her tail. Very cute.

3rd times the charm

It took 3 tries, but Derek finally has his permit. No he didn't have to take the test 3 times, it was because of the bureaucracy of our local MVD. The first time his dad took him they said "your mom has to be here or sign the paper work also". The next try with me, the office was closed on Sat. due to Monday being labor Day(and no they didn't tell us that on the website). So the 3rd time really is the charm.

Derek is so excited. Me, not sure how I feel. A little old, a little scared and a little bit excited that we will have someone to run and get that one item (usually sour cream) that I don't have for dinner on any given night. Maybe I can hire him out for all of my friends that have little ones.

Errand runner for hire. Will fly if you buy. JK...

Congrats Derek I am very proud of you and very happy for you.

My new Job!

I continue to learn a lesson in my life. Or maybe I haven't yet learned this lesson. I need to keep my mouth shut. If you recall a few weeks ago I was bragging about all my free time and how quiet my house is with all my children in school. Well I spoke too soon.

About a week ago I was offered a job at Curves gym for women. I have been going there to workout for about 6 months and have gotten to know the owner. She had an opening and asked if I was interested. It's 3 days a week for 4 hrs. It's a fun job and gives me the opportunity to meet and help other women. Hopefully it will help me too(get in shape).

So there goes half my free time. If anyone wants to come try it out, let me know.

Black Belts

You know I was looking through photos and came across this one and thought how proud I am of Lon and Derek for sticking with it and getting there BLACK Belts in Tae kwon do. This took place in 2001 and was over a 2 year process that entailed 2 to 3 times a week practice and weekend tournaments. They both always tried their best and strived to be the best. Derek was 9 years old. I don't want to say how old Lon was, it might hurt his feelings...

Great job Derek & Lon. I am so proud of you both. The experience was wonderful for our whole family to go through and will be a spotlight in your lives always.

Alone, alone at last...

I am alone...
Today Jamie started first grade. I am alone for more than 6 hrs. Did my birthday come early or what? I just don't know what to do first. Shopping, scrap booking, napping, shopping, reading, etc... Okay so you probably get the picture.

Yes, I will miss my children, but come on this is too cool. Maybe I can get my house organized. My laundry done and go to the grocery store without my kids hanging all over the cart. But first I had to brag a little about the peace and quiet in my home and to tell all my friends with little ones, someday this will happen to you.

Until then, nah nah nah nah nah...JK...Lol...

Our New Family Cook

We are so excited to have a new cook in our house. Trinity is going to be the next Iron Chef. Well maybe we can't go that far, but she is learning. Her Aunt Terry let her make the baked potatoes all by herself. She washed them, she oiled them, seasoned them and then rolled them in tin foil. She was so proud to tell everyone who ate with us that she had made the potatoes. Next we are going to try mashed potatoes. Then maybe fries, hash browns, tater tots, okay so you get the picture. Nice job Trin. Those were the best baked potatoes ever.

Home Sweet Home

We are thrilled to be home, but we had a wonderful time visiting with family. It was so awesome to see everyone and meet the new additions. Some of our highlights included, swimming in Lake Mead, going horse back riding, playing with Uncle Phil's puppies, the boys played air soft wars with their cousins, the girls learned how to cook yummy food from Aunt Terry and I got to play with the new babies in the family. Thank you to my sister and her family for letting us stay at their home and thanks to my parents who let us invade. We love you all and can't wait for our next visit.

Computer Happy

Okay so yes I am getting addicted to blogging. It is so much fun. Its like having someone to talk to other than your children. For the past week my husband has come home from work, sat down on the sofa, and then I immediately ask to use his laptop. This happened about 4 nights in a row. So yesterday after me begging to use his computer all day he surprised me and said he was going to buy me my own laptop. The only stipulation is that I would have to wait one more month for a new dish washer. So I don't know about any of you but I was raised with my mom and I being the only dishwashers. No appliances included. So I went for the Laptop. Now I am sitting comfy in my sofa seat and blogging to my hearts content. And trying to ignore the dishes that are stacking up in the kitchen needing to be washed. Yea for me!

I am such a lucky women to have my wonderful husband who provides for me and my new obsessions in so many ways. THANK YOU LON!!!xoxoxo...

The Silly Mountain Expedition

In May Kathy and I took the kids to Silly mountain for a climb. Poor Derek had to sit at the bottom because of his broken foot. Cody was so fast he beat the rest of us to the top. We all had fun and used alot of energy. Great idea for anyone looking to exhaust your kids.
